Castruma
A multi-world strategy game for browser and phone. Build your village, raise an army, rule the map with your alliance and be first to finish the Wonder at season's end.

Castruma is the studio’s third browser game and its most ambitious so far: a strategy game played in the browser and on a phone with nothing to install, set in seasonal worlds. The player picks a tribe, founds a first village on the map, produces resources, upgrades buildings, trains an army, founds or conquers new villages and joins an alliance for the end-of-season race.
The game loop
Every world lasts one season, and everyone starts from the same point. You produce wood, clay, iron and crop, grow your village with dozens of buildings and train infantry, cavalry, scouts and siege engines. You raid, send waves of attacks and reinforce your allies. Mid-season, powerful artefacts appear; near the end, the construction plans. The alliance that finishes the Wonder first wins the world and its name goes into the Hall of Fame. Each of the seven tribes has its own troops, wall type and special building.
Technical notes
The game is built as a monorepo. The client is written in React and TypeScript, the map and village scenes are drawn with PixiJS, and Capacitor is used for the mobile app build. All of the game’s rules (unit stats, building costs, speed multipliers) are kept as data and can be changed from the admin panel, so a new world can open with different rules without writing code. Economy, movement and combat calculations live in a separate core package with tests; on the server these rules run on PostgreSQL and the client is never trusted. The landing page, help centre and admin panel are all part of the same project.
Castruma’s first world has just opened, and we keep working on new tribes, regions and season content.
